Frederic Guilbert says he can't wait to experience a new football culture in England when he begins at Aston Villa properly this summer.
The 24-year-old signed from Caen on Transfer Deadline Day, but will return to the French outfit on loan for the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign.
The right-back was scouted by Head Coach Dean Smith and Sporting Director Jesus Garcia Pitarch this winter, and is a player that fits the profile of younger, hungry and more dynamic signings.
And Guilbert already has his eyes set on a promotion – whether that be this year or next.
He said: "Aston Villa is a big club that has been champions of England on seven occasions and has a proud history.
"This club has no business being in the Championship and I hope we can get promoted as soon as possible.
“I have all the qualities of a fighter, and I never give up. I feel I have a lot of qualities to bring to the team and hopefully I can show them when I play.
"I’m very happy to discover a new football culture and I’m looking forward to moving here.
“I’m looking forward to joining in the summer. I’m going back to my parent club on loan for the rest of the season. I’m going to finish the mission in France and then I’ll be ready for a new challenge.
"The coach and owner (at Caen) wanted me to stay for the rest of the season so that is why it has taken a bit longer to conclude. But I am very happy to now be an Aston Villa player.
"The aim is promotion and if the team can do it this season it would be brilliant. If not, I will fulfil the mission with them next season."
