Youth Cup reaction: Hughes – Our finishes were “technically outstanding”

U18s coach David Hughes admitted being thrilled with the performance of the Young Lions as they cruised through to the Fifth Round of the FA Youth Cup.

It was a dominant 4-1 victory over Reading at Villa Park and Hughes was happy with progress – but even more delighted at the display of the team.

He said: “I felt we played excellent attacking football in the first half and the finishes for the goals were technically outstanding.

“Out of possession we demonstrated exceptional discipline and composure and still posed a threat on the counter attack.

ReadingReportLink“The players can feel really proud of themselves for the manner with which they attempted to play.”

Goals from Colin Odutayo, Jacob Ramsey (2) and Tyreik Wright ensured we now face either Oxford or Bournemouth away in the next round.

Ties are to be played by Saturday 9th February.

Our U18s are back in action this weekend as they again face Reading on Saturday, with the game being played at their training ground.
