Story in brief

Aston Villa cruised through to the FA Youth Cup Fifth Round courtesy of a dominant 4-1 display against Reading at Villa Park.

Having overcome Swansea City 4-2 last month, our Young Lions were in the mood for goals yet again – netting three times in a first-half, 10-minute blitz.

David Hughes' side made headlines in the previous round after their one-touch, sweeping break up the pitch resulted in a memorable goal – and they were at it once more this time around.

In similar style and starting deep from their own half, Villa broke away at lightning speed, with Colin Odutayo the man smashing home to open the scoring.

Moments later, Jacob Ramsey latched onto a ball from Odutayo inside the box – neatly teeing up his own volleyed finish.

Ramsey then put Villa out of sight when beating his man and firing in at the near post for his second of the evening.

Late on, Reading grabbed a consolation strike, before Tyreik Wright added a fourth for the claret and blues.

The perfect day

As days go, it's been a pretty good one for Jacob Ramsey.

Earlier, we announced that the young forward had signed a new long-term contract at Villa Park – following consistently impressive displays for the U18s this season.

He then added to that by scoring twice in the FA Youth Cup at Villa Park, for the second time in a month.

In the Third Round, he achieved the same feat, netting two of our four we put past Swansea City.

His rise continues...

Round Five

After confirming our place in the next round, we'll now wait 24 hours to discover our next opponents.

It's between Oxford United and AFC Bournemouth – who face off on Wednesday night.
