Injury update: Nyland, Grealish, Tuanzebe

The Verdict: Aston Villa 2-2 QPR The Boss: Smith on QPR draw, Abraham stance, Steer recall, 'waiting for international clearance' and Elphick impact
Injury update: Nyland, Grealish, Tuanzebe

Dean Smith says Ørjan Nyland will miss the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign – while he’s expecting to see Jack Grealish back in February.

Nyland ruptured his achilles in training and will have surgery in the next week.

Grealish is now out of his protective boot although Smith says he’ll be lucky to play any part over the next month.

Axel Tuanzebe, meanwhile, has had surgery on his foot problem and will potentially miss two months.

He said: “Ørjan has ruptured his achilles. There was nothing that could be done about it. It was just one of those things.

“He was warming up and then it’s just gone. He will have an operation next week and that should put him out for the season.

“Jack is out of the boot now and he’s back walking. I don’t expect to see him in January but things have surprised me before. It was a bone stress injury. He has had to rest it. It’s been frustrating for him because he’s not feeling it so much now.

“He’s going to have another scan on it and we will see where we are from there.

“Axel has had the operation so he will be out for the next eight to ten weeks, I would have thought.”
