Anwar El Ghazi described hearing the fan chant about him as an “amazing feeling” and said it was good to fire home two goals in the West Brom derby to give the supporters something back.
El Ghazi has been in electric form since coming off the bench in the 5-5 draw at Nottingham Forest – scoring against them, impressing at Middlesbrough in the 3-0 win there and again in the 2-2 Baggies draw with a brace – the second a wonder goal which flew past Sam Johnstone.
Supporters have a song already for the flying winger and he’s clearly getting a kick out of hearing it belted from the stands home and away.
“It was a great run by Elmo to create some space. I didn’t think. I just shot and it flew into the top corner. It was an amazing feeling.
“I am an emotional football player. I have worked very hard to start again. I am really enjoying it.
“The fans are shouting my name. It’s an amazing feeling. It gives me such a good feeling. I am very happy to give them something back.
“As for the team, we have to keep looking forward. We have to keep the wins coming. We have to get into that top six.
“With our potential we can go up but we have to keep fighting hard and working hard. That is key for us.”
