Dean Smith has spoken to Club TV in a special sit-down interview ahead of the Second City Derby against Birmingham on Sunday.
Our Head Coach discussed a range of topics with Club Journalist Dan Connor on Thursday morning, including his desire for emotional control at the weekend and building on a superb display at Derby County a fortnight ago.
When asked what he wants from the players against Blues, he said: "Performance and emotional control. That will be very important – not losing discipline individually and collectively.
"Know the game plan, follow it and keep calm.
"We can't be obsessed with beating Birmingham City, we have to be obsessed with winning every game.
"Our obsession is making the top two this season, and if we can't do that, the top six."
Smith also touches on his memories and experiences of this fixture as a supporter growing up – admitting he was at Villa Park cheering the claret and blues on as early as February this year.
He added: "I've sat in the stands as an Aston Villa fan.
"Even as Brentford manager last season, I came to watch the 2-0 win at Villa Park with my daughter. I know what it means to supporters."
