#TuesdayThoughts: Tammy Abraham aims high – for himself and the team

Tammy Abraham hailed the quality of Aston Villa after the wonderful weekend victory – and promised more goals as the team eye promotion back to the Premier League.

Abraham scored the second in a 3-0 victory at Pride Park.

The striker believes this has set a marker for the team and also showed the rest of the division what the claret and blues are made of under Dean Smith.

We know we are a top-class team and we need to be up there. This performance showed everyone where we should be. Tammy Abraham
For the team, he wants automatic promotion. For himself, he’s gunning for 20+ goals, just like he scored while on loan at Bristol City, where his total was 23 league effforts.

He told Club TV: “It was unbelievable at Derby. I don’t think words can describe it. Some of the boys say this is the best performance they’ve had since they’ve joined here.

“The fans were fantastic – they supported us from first minute to last. We gave them a performance.

We saw the best of us at Pride Park. This is what we have been working on. We have had a month with the new gaffer and against Derby we applied everything we have been doing in training. We need to build on it.

“We know we are a top-class team and we need to be up there. This performance showed everyone where we should be.

“Personally, I am just going to aim high. I am a person who believes in myself. I have the ability to score goals.

“I am just going to keep getting in the right place at the right time and try and get more goals. If I can touch anywhere near I got at Bristol City, I'd be happy. I will aim for that.

“As a group, we are a top-class team. Minimum we should be aiming for is play-offs. But I believe we could aim for top two. The performance here shows where we should be.”
