#DistinctlyVilla: No.48 – Rambo!

Neil Cutler: Why I couldn't turn down Aston Villa Hutton on Derby clash: We can match anyone in this league
#DistinctlyVilla: No.48 – Rambo!

We continue our new feature - #DistinctlyVilla.

The illustration series will pay tribute to everything good about our great club.

From the formation in 1874 all the way through to the appointment of Dean Smith, we bring you the greatest people, moments, places and quotes.

The designs have been beautifully created by Marcus Marritt.

Today, at No.48, we remember Rambo – Alan McInally, who was a huge Holte End hero.

McInally only spent two seasons in claret and blue before moving in a £1.1m deal to German giants, Bayern Munich but his impact was huge.

Wearing No.9, he bagged 28 goals in 71 appearances and frequently whipped up the crowd, urging them to make even bigger noise than normal.

He joined in the summer of 1987 from Celtic, signed by Graham Taylor, and helped us to promotion back to the First Division before bagging 14 goals in the top league the following season.
