Sir Doug Ellis will be given a classy claret and blue send-off at the Swansea City game this weekend.
There will be a host of activities happening on Saturday to mark the passing of the club’s President Emeritus and former Chairman.
We will be having a minute’s applause prior to kick-off, while a video containing a montage of photos of Sir Doug will be displayed on the big screens at this point.
Brian Little and Alan Curtis – representatives of Aston Villa and Swansea City – will lay a wreath on the centre-circle while members of family, former players and long-serving staff will gather pitchside to join in the applause.
They include Gordon Cowans, Tony Daley, Chris Nicholl, Brian Little, Ian Taylor, Kevin Gage, Allan Evans, Lee Hendrie.
Players will wear black armbands while we will also have black cornerflags to honour Sir Doug.
The matchday programme – News & Record – will be a double cover, Sir Doug on one side and new Head Coach Dean Smith on the other.
The award-winning publication will also feature commemorative pages dedicated to Sir Doug.
Members of our former Chairman’s family will dine as our guests while the flags on the Doug Ellis Stand will stay at half mast until after Sir Doug’s funeral, with details of this confirmed next week.
