New Aston Villa Head Coach Dean Smith says he already possesses the necessary players to implement his attacking brand of football at Villa Park.
During his time with both Walsall and Brentford, Smith was renowned for his free-flowing, attractive style of play.
And now he insists his squad are capable of producing the same brilliance, providing they train and play to the intensity he requires.
He said: “I believe that working hard is a given in any job. What they will get from me is respect and honesty.
“I want them to work and train at an intensity. I am a believer that what you do on a training pitch you take into the matchday and I am looking forward to working with the players and them taking that on board.
“I want us to play at an intensity and I believe we have the players to do that. It’s a fantastic squad full of quality."
Speaking more specifically about his style of play, Smith says that if he successfully implements his ideas, supporters can expect plenty of goals from his team.
He added: “I like to break the game down. It’s still about putting the ball in the back of the net more than the opposition.
“Different coaches and managers will have different thoughts on how you get the ball from A to B. I have my own ideas on how we want to do it.
“I want players to go and create and score goals. It makes for entertaining football.
“But I want to make sure we’re tight at the back, too, because there’s two sides to the game – with the ball and without the ball. We need to be good at both.”
