John McGinn says sitting quietly in the stands at Villa Park was the decisive moment in deciding a move to Aston Villa was perfect for him.
McGinn spoke highly of Steve Bruce’s vision for the club, stressing that was very enticing.
But the key factor was when the Scot, during a stadium tour to check out his potential new football surroundings, sat in our famous old stadium looking out on the newly-laid pitch.
He could picture himself in the claret and blue midfield – and it’s then that he knew a move to B6 was right for him.
He told Club TV: “I had a look about the place, met the manager and coaching staff and got a real good feeling.
“I knew I would fit in, I knew this was the place I wanted to come.
“The one that got it for me was when I sat in the stand at Villa Park and I could picture myself playing there.
“It’s such a brilliant stadium and I know the fans are so passionate. It just felt right and I can’t wait to get my teeth into it.
“With new owners coming in, and the manager has a real vision for the club, and he sold it to me well.”
