Analysis

Aston Villa U23s qualified for the last 16 of the Premier League Cup after defeating Ipswich Town U23s 3-0 at Keys Park.

Harvey Knibbs struck after 20 minutes for his second goal in four days, and it was one-way traffic from there on in.

Substitute Colin Odutayo stroked home from close range with 10 minutes of normal time remaining, before Jacob Ramsey made sure of the victory in added time.

The result marked a perfect week for our Young Lions, who defeated rivals Wolves 6-1 at Bescot Stadium just 72 hours prior.

The Ipswich triumph means they are almost certain to finish their Premier League Cup group in top spot, courtesy of a vastly superior goal difference.

Kevin MacDonald's side play their final Group E fixture at Sheffield United on Monday.

Line-up

VILLA: Sarkic; Borg, Finnerty, Walker, Clark; Blackett-Taylor, Doyle-Hayes, Clarke, Cox, Prosser; Knibbs. Subs: Boucher, Revan, Brunt, Odutayo, Ramsey.
