The Boss: Bruce on solid point, Henri Lansbury and Villa fans' goal celebrations

December 1, 2017

Steve Bruce spoke to club TV following the 1-1 draw with Leeds United.

His views are below in full.

On the result...

When you go behind at Elland Road and come back to get a point I think you take it.

I was delighted with how we did in the second half.

The substitutes came on and really changed things for us.

Henri Lansbury and Jack Grealish put us on the front foot and if anybody was going to win it, it was going to be us.

In front of what was a 30,000-strong, hostile crowd, we'll take a point and move on.

On looking a different team in the second half...

I said to them we had to look after the ball better and play with a bit more intensity when we didn't have it.

We had to get after the ball better because we were a bit easy on them in the first half.

We had good opportunities but surrendered possession in good areas.

But we looked a very decent team in the second half.

On pushing for the winner late on...

I thought if anyone was going to win it, it was going to be us.

But we were wary that they had dangerous players, too.

We were easily the better team in the second half and have had to take a point.

On Henri Lansbury...

He's been struggling with a knee injury and in the last few weeks looks to have been free of pain.

It's shown in the way he's trained and looked recently and we know what a good player he is.

Now, it's like having a new player.

We were wihtout him and Grealish for three months.

It's never easy with talent like that out, so it's good to have them back.

On Jack Grealish...

He made a big impact and we all know what he's got.

He's had an awful injury and it's good to have him back again.

Jack looks as though he's in really good shape.

We're delighted he's back on the pitch.

On the immense noise the travelling Villa fans made, especially for the equaliser...

The noise was incredible.

I've said it so many times about them, they're fantastic.

We could have filled the whole stand if we wanted to.

They've done the club proud once again tonight.
