Chester praises Samba contribution
James Chester has praised the contribution of centre-half partner Chris Samba who has come into the side in the absence of injured skipper John Terry.
Samba was on top form from the start in wins over QPR and Sunderland before coming off the bench to impress in the victory over Ipswich.
Chester has been delighted with the impact of Samba although stressed he’s not been surprised.
He said: “Chris has come in and done brilliantly for us.“He’s an experienced guy, of course – and played in the Premier League and in Europe too.
“Chris has done a great job which we all expected.”
Chester says morale is very high in camp at present, with the claret and blues sitting in fourth place in the Sky Bet Championship.
He says the team must keep striving now as they enter a hectic festive season.
He added: “Apart from the little blip against Sheffield Wednesday, it’s been a pretty good November.
“We’ve ground out results when we’ve not been 100% and we’re putting a little run together, which is what we need to do in this division.
“The momentum is massive. You’re not going to go out and win every game in this league but it’s important to keep picking up points and keep thing ticking over.
“That breeds a bit of confidence and perhaps sees you through in games so we need to keep going and extend that for as long as we can.”
