Villa made it three wins in a row and moved to within two points of the Sky Bet Championship play-off places after comfortably seeing off Burton Albion 4-0.

It’s now seven league games unbeaten and four clean sheets from five for Steve Bruce’s men, who dominated from start to finish to earn their latest victory at the Pirelli Stadium.

The claret and blues were on the front foot from the off and hit the post inside 10 minutes when Jonathan Kodjia brilliantly dribbled past three men, only to see his effort crash off the woodwork.

Villa capitalised on their early pressure shortly after, though, when Keinan Davis emphatically headed home Ahmed Elmohamady’s cross from close range.

Just three minutes later, the ball was in the back of the net again – this time Albert Adomah slotted home to make it five goals in his last five appearances.

SnodgrassPostBurtonMainWebThe points were essentially sewn up on the half-hour mark when Burton failed to clear their lines and allowed Robert Snodgrass to drill a half-volley into the bottom corner of the net and grab his first goal for the club.

The Scot thought he had a second just after half-time, too, only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Bruce’s men did grab a fourth with 20 minutes remaining when Scott Hogan rounded Brewers goalkeeper Stephen Bywater and put the ball on a plate for Josh Onomah to smash home.
