Hourihane on Burton: We're full of confidence

September 26, 2017

Conor Hourihane says that Villa are full of confidence thanks to their two successive Championship wins and six-game unbeaten league run.

The Irishman struck the winner in Saturday's 2-1 defeat of Nottingham Forest, claiming his fifth goal of the campaign in the process.

He now wants to carry his and the team's strong form into this week – starting at Burton Albion tonight.

He said: "Hopefully this is the start of a run now, but we have to keep our feet on the ground and keep working hard.

"We're on a good unbeaten run with just two more games coming up before the international break.

"We'll be going into tonight with good confidence and hopefully we can get a result there as well.

"We said it was going to be a big week for us with three games that we felt we could win – we've ticked off one now.

"Burton will be a tough game – they make it difficult for you at home and have a good record there.

"But we'll go there full of confidence after two big wins."

Steve Bruce named an unchanged side for the first time this season at the weekend, with the team now looking settled in a 4-4-2 formation.

But Hourihane insists no one is taking their starting spot for granted, and that competition for places is pushing the squad even harder.

He added: "I'm not sure we'd say we're settled – obviously there's a few lads injured or not in the squad at the minute as well.

"We're all fighting for our place and being kept on our toes every day in training.

"Even though it may look settled – there's plenty of lads fighting to stay in, and get in as well."
