Analysis

Jordan Lyden fired home late on in an exciting 1-0 win for Villa U23s against Brighton U23s in B6.

There were a glut of chances for both teams and, as the match nearer its conclusion, you might have been forgiven for thinking the deadlock might never be broken.

LydenPostBrightonMainU23sWebBut up popped skipper Lyden to prod home at the Holte End and ensure three points for Kevin MacDonald’s enthusiastic young side.

Corey Taylor, Harry McKirdy and Easah Suliman had all gone close previously.

Brighton, to their credit, also had chances but couldn’t find the finishing touch when they most needed it.
