Keinan Davis says the 3-0 win over Barnsley at the weekend was the perfect outcome as we extended our unbeaten run to six games in all competitions.
Davis also netted his first senior goal for the club against the Tykes as the claret and blues took all three points at Oakwell.
And after two frustrating goalless draws against Brentford and Middlesbrough the previous week, the 19-year-old was delighted to see the team get the goals they’ve deserved.
In terms of what we thought was possible going into the match – this was the perfect outcome.
He said: “I’m delighted to get the win. It was the most important thing coming into the game.
“We haven’t won away from home in a long time either, so it felt good to do so.
“In terms of what we thought was possible going into the match – this was the perfect outcome.”
The 19-year-old also admitted scoring his first Villa goal had been on his mind for some time, and hopes he can now strike a partnership with the returning Jonathan Kodjia to build on his tally.
He added: “I’ve thought about that moment every time I’ve played for the first team – I just want to score and get wins. Thankfully both happened.
“Playing regularly is all I could’ve asked for coming into pre-season and I’m very grateful for that.
“It’s also helpful to play with a great striker like Kodjia. I’d love to be able to do what he’s done for this club. Hopefully this is the start of something good.”
