Analysis
Albert Adomah’s double and a first goal in claret and blue for Keinan Davis sealed Villa’s first away-day victory in the league this season in a 3-0 success at Barnsley.
Adomah struck twice before the break – once from the penalty spot – before Davis’s header ten minutes after the interval secured all three points for Steve Bruce’s men.
Robert Snodgrass’s early snapshot from the edge of the area was kept out at his near post by Adam Davies before Davis saw a fizzing effort whistle over the crossbar.
The visitors made the breakthrough with 19 minutes on the clock when James Chester’s ball out from the back towards Davis eventually found itself at the feet of Adomah.
Gliding into the box, the winger managed to sneak the ball under the advancing Barnsley stopper before prodding it into an empty net.
Teenage striker Davis would make a telling contribution later in the half but not before his header was held by Davies.
Villa doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time when Davis was sent tumbling in the box by the covering Adam Jackson.
Adomah took responsibility from the spot, blasting it high into the net.
After the break, Jonathan Kodjia had already put the ball in the back of the net but was flagged offside before the visitors extended their advantage.
And it was a moment to savour for Davis who planted a header into the back of the net, having met Ahmed Elmohamady’s right-wing cross.
