Mile Jedinak is set for the weekend encounter with Brentford – while Jonathan Kodjia could be fit to face Middlesbrough in midweek.
Steve Bruce confirmed that Jedinak and Kodjia have trained all week at Bodymoor Heath but revealed that the midfielder was “more advanced” than the striker in his bid for fitness.
Kodjia will play at least 45 minutes for the U23s on Monday against Southampton before Bruce assesses him with a view to Tuesday’s clash with Boro.
Bruce also confirmed that Alan Hutton and Chris Samba are ready for the Bees encounter on Saturday.
He said: “Jedinak is nearly there in that he’s trained now for the past two weeks.
“Typical Jedinak, he wants to be involved straight away.
“Kodjia has trained all this week. I am probably looking at him to play at least 45 minutes on Monday in the U23s.
“If he comes through he will be available then for the Tuesday. That could be an option.
“So we’re very, very close to having a fully fit squad to choose from.”
