Doyle-Hayes signs new deal

Aston Villa is delighted to announce that Jake Doyle-Hayes has signed a new contract.

The 18-year-old has penned a three-year deal with the club.

A former captain of the academy sides and a regular for the U23 squad last term, the midfielder featured for the first team in pre-season before making his senior debut in the 4-1 win over Wigan Athletic in the Carabao Cup.

He said: “I’m really pleased to have signed a new contract with Aston Villa.

“It was great to be involved with the first team during pre-season and it was a special feeling to make my debut at a place like Villa Park against Wigan.

“I’ve got to get my head down, keep learning and working hard on developing my game. I want to try and play as many games as I can.”

Director of Football Steve Round added: “We are delighted to have secured the services of Jake, who we consider a really exciting young player as he has demonstrated in his appearances in the first-team.

“We pride ourselves in providing a gateway to first-team football through our Academy and I’m looking forward to watching his progress here at Bodymoor Heath in the coming years.”

JDHayesAcademy Manager Sean Kimberley was Head of Academy Recruitment when Doyle-Hayes was identified by his Republic of Ireland scouting team over six years ago.

He said: "Aston Villa remains a club that gives its young players opportunities to access first-team football and time to develop through its Academy.

“We're delighted to secure Jake’s immediate future and it demonstrates the club’s commitment to youth and its Academy.

“We look forward to watching his progress and that of a number of other emerging Academy players throughout the seasons to come."
