Aston Villa are delighted to announce the signing of Robert Snodgrass on a season-long loan.
Snodgrass arrives from West Ham to link up with Steve Bruce, who managed him during a successful spell together at Hull City.
The Glaswegian began his career with Livingston, but has spent the majority of his career in England, first with Leeds United and Norwich City before moves to the Tigers and the Hammers.
He scored 24 times in 107 appearances north of the border as well as 41 goals and 45 assists in four seasons at Elland Road, where he won promotion from League One.
I want to be part of that journey back up to the Premier League. I am raring to go.
He made the step up to the Premier League with Norwich City in 2013, scoring 14 goals in 74 games for the Canaries over two seasons in the top-flight.
He joined Hull for £6m in 2015 and quickly established himself as a vital player, inspiring the team to promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.
Snodgrass enjoyed an outstanding return to the top-flight with seven goals in 20 appearances for the Tigers in the opening half of the 2016/17 campaign – before West Ham came calling in the January transfer window.
He told us: “I am delighted to join.
“I have had offers from other clubs but it was an easy decision to come here. You see the name Aston Villa with all its history, tradition, fanbase and it’s a place you want to come to.
“Seeing it in the Championship doesn’t look right.
“I want to be part of that journey back up to the Premier League. I am raring to go.”
