Steve Bruce has revealed that Mile Jedinak is “close” to a return to first team action.

Jedinak trained all week ahead of the Norwich City but just missed out against the Canaries.

He’ll be assessed over the next few days to see if he’s ready for action against Wigan Athletic or Bristol City.

Loan midfielder Josh Onomah came off in the first half with a head injury and he’ll be checked out over the next 48 hours.

Gabby Agbonlahor, meanwhile, missed out with a bad back and will also be evaluated in the coming days.

The manager told us: “Josh has a head injury. We don’t know the extent of that yet. That was disappointing.

“Mile was close. But he was sore yesterday.

“We have put a lot of work into him. We will see how he is in the week.

“Gabby had a twinge in his back.”
