Steve Round has spoken glowingly of his time working with Ugo Ehiogu, stressing: “He was a dream to coach”.
Our Director of Football reacted this afternoon to the news of the death of the 44-year-old former defender.
Round worked on the coaching staff at Middlesbrough for five years under Steve McClaren and enjoyed a great relationship with Ehiogu, who he said was a “great lad”.
He told us: “I was devastated to learn the news of Ugo’s death and my heartfelt thoughts go out to his family.
“He was a great lad and a top player who was a dream to coach.
“He also was developing into an excellent coach himself at Spurs.
“He was massive in our time at Middlesbrough in helping us win a trophy and taking us to a European final.
“He was an outstanding defender who was the backbone for Villa and Boro during his time at both clubs.”
