Sam Johnstone says he can’t wait to hear the roar of the crowd as he emerges from the tunnel for the Blues derby on Sunday.
Johnstone insists that the players will be well disciplined during the game itself but stresses that he can’t wait to feel the electricity pre-match ahead of the 12noon clash.
He said: “Obviously the lads have been talking about the game and we’re all looking forward to it.
“The atmosphere at home games this season has been fantastic – it’s a great place to play football with the fans right behind you.
“I am someone who will have a cool head during the match itself. When the match kicks off, I’ll be in game-mode – totally focused on what I need to do to help us get a result.
“But I must admit, I can’t wait to hear the Villa Park roar as we come out of the tunnel before the game.
“That’s always a great moment in every home match – but I can only imagine how loud it will be this Sunday as we come out on to the pitch. That’s something to look forward to.
“We want to finish the season well. We have three games left now and we, as players, know how important this game is for the fans. We will give it everything we’ve got.”
