Steve Bruce has confidently roared out: “I am the man for this job – I will turn it around”.
Bruce’s side have had a tough time over the past few weeks, with a run of four defeats in succession.
The manager was asked about the current situation in his pre-match press conference – and spoke positively of his ability to get Villa on the up.
He said: “I am the man for the job.
“I am relishing the challenge of it. That’s for sure.
“It’s probably more difficult than I thought it was going to be. Bu it’s a great club, with a great tradition and great history and great support and I will do my utmost to make sure I turn it around.
“The owner realises it needs stability. It’s had too much turmoil. That’s probably why we’re in the position we’re in.
“So we have to turn it around and I will turn it around. I am absolutely convinced I will do that.
“You need time and a few results – that helps. Because, at the moment, in this country with the culture, it’s off with his head, he’s no use.
“Six weeks ago I was the saviour, now it’s off with his head.
“But I will crack on, get on with it and make sure we turn it around.”
