Steve Bruce is relishing the Blues derby, stressing: “This is what we’re in football for”.
Boss Bruce is on a good run in the claret and blue hotseat, with a draw and two wins from his first three games.
He’d love a third victory on the spin as he looks to improve our fortunes and earn bragging rights.
Bruce is well aware of the significance of the fixture, having bossed from the opposite dugout – winning four of his first six Second City matches for our neighbours.
Now he’s eager for a Villa victory in this “really grand occasion”.
Unless you’re from the area, you don’t understand how big this game really is.
He said: “We have a nice little game next week, don’t we… It should be a nice quiet affair.
“I am sure I will be welcomed with open arms!
“It’s been a good week and we will look forward to the big match this weekend.
“There’s all the hype that surrounds it – great game, great occasion – and let’s look forward to the challenge.
“That walk from the tunnel to the dugout should be very interesting indeed.
