Steve Bruce spoke to the press following Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Reading.
Check out his views below.
On securing Villa’s first away win in 14 months…
I have to say the supporters, you have to pay special mention to them in the last 10 minutes.
They’ve got behind their team and travelled down here in their thousands.
They breathed life into the lads.
Thankfully with the quality we’ve got, we managed to restore a bit of belief.
That’s all we have done. We haven’t done a lot.
But hopefully this will help us kick on.
We will get stuck into them over the next few weeks and months.
On emotions when the penalty was being taken...
I don’t watch them!
I believe Jordan Ayew stuttered.
He’s tucked it away.
I’ve had four penalties in two games.
That’s got to be a record!
It’s nice to win in the last minute because to be fair to the previous management they’ve lost nine or ten points in the last few minutes of games.
If they hadn’t, I wouldn’t be sitting here.
I have got to blow a bit of belief back into the whole football club. I will try my best to turn this big juggernaut of a club around.
On what he’s done in his first few days at the helm…
I have got to blow a bit of belief back into the whole football club.
It shows you the magnitude of the club.
That’s their fifth win in 50-something games and they bring 4,000 to Reading on a Tuesday night.
I will now try my best to turn this big juggernaut of a club around. A few results will do that.
Let’s now see if we can get our season up and running.
On his thoughts on the game…
We had a game plan in the first half.
We know how Reading want to play.
In the second half we changed to get after them.
You have to take your hat off to Jaap.
He’s got them playing the Dutch way if you like.
They’ve been on a good run.
You can see how they got the good results.
On his overall thoughts on the team…
I’ve only had four training sessions!
It’s fair to say within a week I think they understand what I want.
I’ve made that pretty obvious.
Let’s hope this win is the first of a few.
On the fans singing his name…
I never thought I’d be hearing that, did you!?
They understand whatever has gone on in the past is in the past.
It's the first time in 20 years that they’ve been complimentary of me.
For that, I say thank-you!
On Jack Grealish...
I thought he was a bit unfortunate. I don’t think it was that bad.
Then again, others have seen it in a different way.
I will have a word with Jack because he always seems to be in the spotlight for the wrong reasons.
People are after him.
On playing with desire…
It’s pretty obvious, to play for me you have to show fight - or else you don’t play.
They got that message loud and clear.
I asked for one thing - I made it through sheer determination.
It’s amazing what the supporters can forgive as long as they see hard work.
They can forgive a defeat if their team plays with heart.
It was good to see at the end.
They had a good go.
People who live around Birmingham and the Midlands, they want to see a team who works hard and reflects them.
On challenging in the Championship…
We can talk about tactics but the main thing is when you put your boots on, go and show your supporters who back you.
They have had a dismal time and to turn up like they did tonight is fantastic.
I'm only two games in, give me three months.
I’m still determined we can make a challenge.
We’re capable of it.
Can we make the play-offs? That’s got to be the aim
