Aston Villa Football Club is pleased to announce that Jordan Lyden has signed a new deal.
Lyden has penned a two-year contract extension – on top of his remaining 12 months – taking him through to June 2019.
The Aussie, who arrived at Villa from ECU Joondalup, had a breakthrough campaign in claret and blue during 2015/16.
His impressive displays for our U21s saw him selected for the matchday 18 against Arsenal in December 2015 – and he was a prominent figure after.
He made his senior debut as a late substitute in our 1-1 FA Cup draw at Wycombe and his first start arrived in the B6 replay victory over the Chairboys.
The 20-year-old made his Premier League debut against Liverpool and his first start in the top-flight came against Bournemouth.
In total, he has made six appearances for the seniors – and he will be eager for more as this campaign continues.
Lyden captained the U21 side in the majority of their 2015/16 fixtures.
He said: “I’m really happy to have signed a contract extension.
“It’s great that the manager has got faith in me and sees me as part of the future.
“I’ve loved my time here so far and I know that this is the best place for me to continue my development.
“It’s an exciting time to be at the club too. There’s a great groups of lads here and the coaching staff have been brilliant with me.
“There’s a really positive atmosphere around the place.
“I want to help the club get back into the Premier League and play my part in any way I can.”
