SHAY GIVEN played 30 minutes while FABIAN DELPH was rested as Republic of Ireland drew 0-0 with England in a drab draw in Dublin.
Ireland and England were both using the friendly game to prepare for their Euro 2016 qualifiers next week.
But it didn't have the intensity that you expect from more competitive encounters.
Given replaced Sheffield Wednesday's Kieren Westwood on the hour mark and ensured a shutout for Eire although, in truth, neither side had that many clear-cut chances.
England's wait for a first win over Ireland since 1985 goes on but they did at least extend their unbeaten run since the summer World Cup to nine games.
Delph was a substitute and watched on from the bench.
CHRISTIAN BENTEKE played 59 minutes as Belgium defeated France 4-3 in a friendly in Paris.
Benteke was replaced by Everton's Romelu Lukaku just before the hour mark in an exciting match.
Marouane Fellaini scored twice for Belgium and it looked to be a comfortable victory - but for a late French rallly.
Belgium, second in the FIFA world rankings, took the lead when Fellaini, lurking in an onside position as France failed to clear a corner, stuck the ball past Hugo Lloris.
Then, just before half-time, with France struggling for rhythm, Fellaini headed firmly into the near corner to beat Lloris again - and put Belgium two up.
In the second half, there was a flurry of action as Radja Nainggolan's shot from distance fizzed past Lloris to make it three.
Then Olivier Giroud won a penalty which Mathieu Valbuena converted.
But a minute later Eden Hazard scored his own spot-kick when Fellaini was bundled over by Laurent Koscielny.
France almost grabbed a draw when Nabil Fekir volleyed home from close range before Dimitri Payet stroked in France's third just inside the box.
But it was too late to score a fourth.
CALLUM ROBINSON played 41 minutes as England U20s had to settle for fourth at the Toulon Tournament for a second year in a row after losing 2-1 to USA.
It was a tale of two penalties in the third-place play-off on a sweltering afternoon in southern France, as USA goals either side of Kortney Hause's equaliser meant England missed out on bronze at the annual summer tournament.
