Joe Bennett joined Villa to become the club's fifth signing of the summer transfer window.

The full-back checked in at Bodymoor Heath to complete his move from Middlesbrough.

Club photographer Neville Williams was on hand as Bennett passed his medical, conducted his first interview and settled in to his new surroundings.

Bennett admitted he cannot wait to get started with his new team-mates after making his switch from Teesside.

The England U21 defender is relishing the step up to the Barclays Premier League having made nearly 90 appearances in the second tier.

Before getting his claret and blue career underway, there were media duties and a medical for Bennett to finalise.

The process for the medical began with head of sport and exercise medicine Roddy MacDonald contacting Middlesbrough for a background on the player.

Then it was on to a full physiological test before blood and urine testing.

After that, it was a trip to Little Aston Hospital for a cardio screening before MRI scans on the back, pelvis, hips, knees and ankles.

Then there was further testing, the specifics dependent on the player's fitness prior to his move.

After everything was signed off by manager Paul Lambert and the board, headed up by Paul Faulkner, it was time to face the AVTV cameras for his first interview as a Villa player.

Presenter Jack Woodward posed the questions as Bennett spelled out his excitement and his hopes for the future.

The 22-year-old also donned a claret and blue jersey for the first time, as well as posing for snaps in his new club colours.
