Story in brief
Villa slipped to a narrow defeat at Norwich City after James Chester’s 19-minute opener.
Despite their half-time advantage, the hosts hit back with a second half double to clinch all three points at Carrow Road.
An open and even start to the game was punctuated by the Villa skipper, James Chester who rose highest at a corner to flick in Conor Hourihane’s corner from inside the six-yard box.
The claret and blues could have had two before the break but after Tammy Abraham was denied by the upright, Albert Adomah’s follow-up was smothered by Tim Krul in the Norwich goal.
Hourihane drilled an effort just wide shortly after the break before the hosts levelled matters from a corner; Jordan Rhodes in the right place to head in the equaliser.
Timm Klose also sent a shot whistling over the bar for the hosts.
Twenty minutes later, Rhodes doubled his and Norwich’s tally, turning a low ball in from the left flank into bottom corner.
It was another away game and another set-piece goal for the claret and blues.
Conor Hourihane added another assist to his collection for the season, swinging in an inviting cross from the right-hand side for James Chester to attack.
The Villa skipper reached the ball first to divert it into the back of the net and give the visitors a first-half lead.
Out on his own
The aforementioned assist from Hourihane made it five for the season – an impressive total considering he's not started as many games as he's been used to this term.
He's now on five for the campaign, which happens to be the best total across the Sky Bet Championship.
It’s a very quick turnaround for Dean Smith’s men after tonight. They are back in Championship action on Friday evening at Queens Park Rangers.
