Match: Aston Villa v Ipswich Town
Date: November 25, 2017
Venue: Villa Park
Weather: 4c, partly cloudy
Adomah 36, 66
Albert Adomah’s brace ensured a third consecutive victory for Villa as the flamboyant winger took his haul for the season to 11 – including five in the past eight days.
Ten of Adomah’s goals have been scored in the Championship and at this rate he could become the first Villa player since Peter Withe to hit 20 league goals in one season.
Villa created a number of chances before taking the lead against the hard-working Tractor Boys.
Keinan Davis saw a low drive saved by the diving Bartosz Bialkowski and the striker also headed just wide from Adomah’s left-wing cross, while Mile Jedinak’s header was cleared from the goalmouth by Callum Connelly.
But the breakthrough arrived when Glenn Whelan headed into the penalty area and the slippery Adomah evaded a couple of challenges before slotting a low shot past Bialkowski from close range.
The second goal was even more impressive, albeit executed with the same degree of composure, Adomah racing on to a sublime through ball from Robert Snodgrass and stroking the ball past the advancing keeper and in off the post.
