September 1 - Villa thrashed Arsenal 5-1 in the opening game of the season.
October 8 - The first rugby football match played in Twickenham.
December 17 - Leopold II of Belgium died and was succeeded by his nephew Albert I of Belgium.
January 15 - A General Election held in response to the House of Lords' rejection of the 1909 budget resulted in a reduced Liberal Party majority (Liberals, 275 seats; Labour, 40; Irish Nationalists, 82; Unionists (the title then preferred by the British Conservative Party), 273).
January 29 - Harry Hampton's hat-trick helped Villa to a 4-3 home win against title rivals Blackburn Rovers.
March 28th - Henri Fabre becomes the first person to fly a seaplane after taking off from a water runway near Martigues, France.
April 21 - Death of Mark Twain
April 30 - Villa ended the season with a 2-0 defeat at second-placed Liverpool but the title had already been secured.
May 6 - George V took to the throne following the death of his father Edward VII.
