Enda Stevens will offer competition for Aly Cissokho and Kieran Richardson for the left-back spot this term, although he is currently out on loan.

Stevens, who joined the claret and blues under Alex McLeish, will hope to impress Paul Lambert in the coming term.

In the early part of 2013-14, the left-back spent some time away from Birmingham to gain first-team experience at Notts County and Doncaster Rovers.

His debut for the Meadow Lane outfit came in a League Cup tie against Liverpool and he went on the make a further three appearances.

A move to Doncaster soon followed and the Irishman played 13 times over the hectic Christmas schedule.

After joining the club, Stevens spent most of his early months at Villa playing in the reserve side.

His first start for the first team came in a 2-1 pre-season victory over Burton Albion.

Stevens started in Villa's 3-0 second round League Cup win over Tranmere Rovers and also came off the bench in the fourth-round tie against Swindon Town.

Stevens made his full league debut for Villa against Manchester United - an experience he admits he will never forget.

As a youngster, Stevens began his career with University College Dublin before moving to St Patrick's Athletic where he established himself as first choice left-back.

He made six appearances in the 2009-2010 UEFA Europa League as Pats advanced through two rounds to the play-off round.

Stevens signed for Shamrock Rovers in December 2009 and capped off his first League of Ireland season by winning his first title as Shamrock won the league title on the final day of the season.

He repeated this success in 2011 and also won the All Ireland Setanta Cup.

In 2011-2012, Stevens was part of Rovers' first ever UEFA Europa League clash and made 15 appearances in European competition over a two year period.

He capped off a memorable year by winning the PFAI Young Player of the Year.

In August 2011, it was announced by then Villa boss McLeish that Stevens would sign a three-year contract to commence in January 2012.

The agreement meant Stevens could remain at Rovers until the New Year to support them in their maiden Europa League season.

He made his Republic of Ireland U21 debut in a friendly against Cyprus in 2011.
