21.38pm - Birmingham Mail: Aston Villa have decided against pursuing their interest in Manchester United's Tom Cleverley. Boss Paul Lambert pulled the plug on the deal after growing frustrated with the 25-year-old's representatives during negotiations. But Lambert and Vlaar's representatives insist he will be staying at Villa Park to see out his contract and potentially receive a raft of more lucrative offers next summer.
14.05pm - Twelve months ago, Villa completed a deadline day swoop for Czech Republic striker Libor Kozak from Lazio. Kozak made a solid start to his claret and blue career before suffering a broken leg in January. But we're looking forward to seeing the big striker back in action very soon.

Goal understands Cleverley met with Villa assistant and former United midfielder Roy Keane over the weekend, with the Midlands club emerging as the player's preferred destination if he is to leave Old Trafford on Monday.
11.11am - BBC Sport: Aston Villa's Morocco international midfielder Karim El Ahmadi has rejoined Feyenoord on a three-year deal. The 29-year-old played for the Dutch club between 2008-2012, spending the first half of 2011 on loan at United Arab Emirates side Al Ahli. He joined Villa in the summer of 2012, becoming Paul Lambert's first signing.

10.26am - Guardian: Ron Vlaar's agent has insisted the Holland central defender is not expected to leave Aston Villa despite reports that Arsenal are interested in signing him. Vlaar has only one year remaining of his contract at Villa Park and has been linked with a move all summer after some impressive displays at the World Cup. Arsène Wenger is reported to have made an inquiry as he seeks a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who joined Barcelona earlier this month.
10.15am - CONFIRMED: Karim El Ahmadi has rejoined Feyenoord on a three-year deal. The midfielder made 43 starts for Villa, as well as a further 13 from the bench. Check out the full story now.
10.09am - Daily Express - Tom Cleverley wants a £1m pay-off from Manchester United to make the move to Aston Villa ahead of Everton and Hull.
9.41am - TWITTER - Pat Murphy (@PatMurphyBBC): It'll have to be the Cleverley camp that blinks first over any move to @AVFCOfficial because he won't get wages in the Benteke/Vlaar vicinity.
9.35am - Daily Express: Arsenal are lining up a surprise move to beat Manchester United, Tottenham and Southampton to the signing of Ron Vlaar. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has promised to 'be active' in the transfer market until tonight's 11pm deadline. While Arsenal fans want a new striker following Olivier Giroud's injury, Wenger is in the market for a defender and midfielder.
9.32am - Mirror: Arsenal have made a check on Aston Villa's Dutch centre half Ron Vlaar as a solution to their defensive problems.
9.26am - Daily Star: Arsenal have targeted a deadline day swoop for Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar. Arsene Wenger is desperate to add a central defender to his squad after losing Thomas Vermaelen to Spanish giants Barcelona earlier this summer. Starsport understands the French boss has turned his attention to Villa rock Vlaar after seeing a bid rejected for Borussia Dortmund's Greek international Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Daily Telegraph: Paul Lambert fears that his £8million offer to sign the Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley could collapse over wages. Lambert's bid for the England international has been accepted, as revealed last week by The Daily Telegraph, and Aston Villa are hopeful of concluding a deal today. Cleverley is free to leave Old Trafford and Villa have promised him first-team football and the chance to revive his career. But the 25-year-old's representatives are believed to be demanding around £60,000 per week.
Daily Mail: Aston Villa's primary objective for the day is to secure a deal for Tom Cleverley. Paul Lambert has had a £7million bid accepted and assistant Roy Keane has met with the Manchester United midfielder to persuade him of a move.
Evening Express: Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert believes owner Randy Lerner's honesty over his desire to sell the club has contributed to their best Barclays Premier League start in eight years. Villa's 2-1 win over Hull, a scoreline that does not quite do justice to their dominance for the first hour, took them to seven points from a possible nine heading to the international break. That is their best opening three-game return since 2006/07 and a far cry from the embattled atmosphere that shrouded the club towards the end of last season. Some expected another year of struggle after American businessman Lerner put the club on the market in the summer, a move that has yet to lead to any concrete interest, but Lambert feels the transparency has helped everyone.
Sky Sports: Andreas Weimann believes Ron Vlaar has become an even better player since the World Cup and would be delighted if he stays at Aston Vila. Dutch defender Vlaar has been linked with a move away from the club this summer after catching the eye with his performances at international level in Brazil. He has carried that good form into the start of the new Premier League season and team-mate Weimann feels it is vital for Villa to keep hold of him.
