Focused Sanchez: I will play each ball like it's my last
Carlos Sanchez says he will bring aggression to the middle ground - as he backed himself to get quickly up-to-speed with the Barclays Premier League.
Sanchez chatted to the press at his unveiling this week and he was as strong in his beliefs and he will be in his tackles as he shared his Villa vision with the media.
The 28-year-old says it's a dream come true to arrive at Villa - a club he knows very well because of the exploits of fellow Colombian Juan Pablo Angel.
Now he aims to emulate the success of the claret and blue idol.
He said: "I am delighted to be here. It means a lot to me to come here.
"I have always wanted to play in England, particularly for a club like Villa.
"I followed Villa when Juan Pablo Angel played here. I was very interested in the club.
"Juan Pablo brought Villa to South America's attention. I hope to do the same myself. He is inspirational.
"As soon as I found out Villa were interested, I had no doubts.
"I can't wait to play. I have lots of aggression in my approach. I will play each ball as if it's my last.
"I am going to try my very best to grow with the club. It's a big club. I'm sure I can progress here.
"I will learn to adapt. I have no doubts whatsoever that I have the qualities to carry this out."
The Rock hasn't been in claret and blue for long but he's already been impressed by the quality of the squad he's joined.
He also spoke of excitement at the prospect of seeing Villa Park live in person for the first time.
He added: "For me the most important thing was the manager wanting me here.
"We've got everything. We have got some great players, a good technical staff and everything else we need to have big success this season. We have a great dressing room.
"In the first game at Stoke, we played a very good game.
"I can't wait to play for the fans here. I am really looking forward to that. I have a feeling it's a real family club - I look forward to experiencing the atmosphere in the dressing room.
"I'm looking forward to walking on to the pitch at Villa Park too. I have seen it on TV only. It's fascinating. I am sure when I see it in the flesh it will be even more exciting."
