London Bees 0-1 Villa Ladies: Hunt - We should have won by more
Joe Hunt was satisfied with the three points at London Bees - but the head coach knows a more clinical display would have made the victory more comfortable.
Livy Fergusson struck just after half-time at The Hive to keep Villa Ladies at seventh in the ten-team table with eight points from seven games.
Despite his relief at the maximum haul, Hunt will hope for more of a cutting edge next Sunday when his team host Oxford United Women in the latest WSL2 clash.
He said: "Obviously the main thing is that we won the game - but we made hard work of it.
"Frustratingly we were bad in front of goal. We had at least five one-on-ones in the match and didn't score any of them.
"I don't feel the 1-0 scoreline reflects the game.
"We didn't play that well overall but we were still dominant.
"We had glimpses of good play all over the pitch but we definitely need to be more consistent.
"London Bees put a little bit of pressure on us in the last 10 minutes, which is to be expected when you only have a 1-0 lead in the closing moments.
"Thankfully our goalkeeper Natalie Courtney pulled off a wonder save and they hit the bar on another occasion.
"But really the game should've been over long before that.
"We also had two very good penalty claims turned down. The push on Katie Wilkinson was so blatant - and she's not the type of girl to fall easily.
"I thought she did very well today. It's been hard for her being cup-tied and then us having even more time off.
"Hopefully now she can have run of games where she can find her form and fitness.
"We looked more comfortable with her as our main striker - the ball sticks to her when the girls play into her.
"The win puts us back in the middle pack of the table with a game in hand.
"We want to put a run of games together now and push up the WSL2. To be fair, with our squad we should be higher."
