Villa Ladies preview: Selection boost for London Bees clash
Villa Ladies will be boosted on Sunday by a raft of players returning to the squad for the game at London Bees.
Elisha N'Dow, Sarah Mayling and Maddy Cusack are all available again after representing England U19s in the European Championships over the past few weeks.
Speedy winger Emma Follis is back from a spell in USA where she represented Seattle Sounders while midfield ace Chloe Jones is back from a work expedition to Ghana.
Star striker Katie Wilkinson, on loan from Birmingham City, is also available again after being cup-tied.
Head coach Joe Hunt is pleased to welcome back so many familiar faces.
He said: "The game at London Bees is going to be extremely difficult.
"They have had some results go against them in the past two months which I'm sure they'll be looking to rectify when they play us.
"From our last game against Oxford we welcome back a lot of players.
"Elisha, Sarah and Maddy were all away with England U19s, Emma has returned from three months in America, Chloe is now back from a work trip to Ghana and Katie is able to play again after been cup tied.
"Even though Sherry McCue and Caitlin Leach are away at the U20s World Cup with England, we all of a sudden have a healthy, competitive squad to choose from.
"Once we get to September, we're hoping to have a full squad to choose from for a change."
Hunt has been pleased with the effort of the girls in the run-up to the 2pm clash at The Hive - although he's frustrated at the stop-start nature of the fixture list to date.
He added: "It's great to be able to prepare the team for a game this weekend.
"We've had three weeks off since our last match.
"This season has become frustrating due to the amount of weeks and weekends we have off.
"As a club we can never get any consistency - the players get annoyed as they had to wait 11 months for the season to start and then we always seem to be on a break.
"We have a run of two games and then another weekend off.
"Hopefully we can pick up from our last two performances against Bristol and Oxford in the Continental Cup.
"The last few weeks the girls have trained very well, shown plenty of commitment and a real desire to improve.
"I'm sure we'll put in a very good performance and hopefully kick-start our season."
Villa Ladies will give fitness test to Alicia Robinson, Lauren Walker and Bethan Merrick (all ankle) before the game on Sunday.
As well as McCue and Leach, Hayley Crackle is also unavailable for selection.
Villa Ladies: Courtney, Beattie, N'Dow, Baker, Richards, Petrovic, Walker, Moran, Robinson, Cusack, Mayling, Harper, Fergusson, Merrick, Follis, Jones, Davies, T Baptiste, Wilkinson.
