World Cup 2014: Vlaar looking for another powerful display

Brown

Skipper Ron Vlaar will be looking for another powerful display as Holland face Australia in their second World Cup game this evening.

Fresh from a cracking performance in the 5-1 win over holders Spain, Vlaar will be eager to stifle the threat of former Barclays Premier League ace Tim Cahill, who looks set to lead the line for the Socceroos.

The Group B game kicks-off at 5pm BST at Estadio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre.

Spain take on Chile in the other Group B match as they look to recover from the tough defeat they suffered at the hands of the Dutch.

That encounter kicks-off at 8pm BST at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro.

Netherlands are top of Group B with three points - level with Chile - but retain first spot with a superior goal difference - +4 versus +2.

The final match for Vlaar's Netherlands is on Monday June 23 as they take on Chile, kick-off 5pm BST at Arena de Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo.

Cameroon face Croatia in the third game of the day - 11pm BST kick-off at Arena Amazonia, Manaus.

Cameroon lost 1-0 to Mexico in the opening Group A match while Croatia lost 3-1 to Brazil.

Both teams are currently pointless with Brazil top on four and Mexico second on four, the hosts occupying the summit with a better goal difference - +2 versus +1.

Philippe Senderos and Switzerland are back in action on Friday June 20.

Fresh from their last-gasp victory over Ecuador in Group E, the Swiss take on France, kick-off 8pm BST.

The match takes place at Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.

Ottmar Hitzfeld's side conclude their qualifying campaign with a clash against Honduras.

The 9pm BST encounter takes place at Arena Amazonia, Manaus on Wednesday June 25.

Brad Guzan and the USA will be in buoyant mood after their 2-1 win over Ghana in Group G - and they now face Portugal on Sunday June 22.

The match takes place at Arena Amazonia in Manaus, with an 11pm BST kick-off.

Then it's their final qualifying encounter as they take on Germany on Thursday June 26.

The match takes place on Arena Pernambuco in Recife, with a 5pm BST kick-off.
