Shop chief: Reaction to new shirts has been unprecedented
Shop chief John Greenfield has admitted his delight at supporter reaction to Villa's new shirts for 2014-15, calling it "unprecedented".
The home and away kits were revealed two weeks ago and the feedback has astonished long-serving store supremo Greenfield.
He told us: "Having checked social media - Facebook and Twitter - as well as our plethora of messageboards, it's been nothing but positive praise for the new shirts.
"Fans have written of their happiness at the look of the new home shirt and the response has really been unanimous.
"The new away kit evokes memories of our glorious night in Rotterdam and the supporters are thrilled with this modern take of that historic 1982 shirt.
"A lot of years, fans may like one or the other. This year, supporters have undoubtedly given the thumbs-up to both, which is fantastic to see.
"The kit launch festival was the first opportunity for fans to buy the new home shirt. The whole event was well-received by those in attendance.
"There were fans far and wide at the two-day event and many told me they had come from places across Europe to make a full weekend of it.
"Sales were good for our first weekend. In fact, we've actually had to bring forward a second delivery of the new home kit from our suppliers.
"My advice would be to get in quick in order to pick up a new home shirt for the start of the season and show your colours."
Greenfield also revealed that new shirt numbers look set to be revealed in the next month.
He's already had players requesting new numbers for the coming season and our new signings so far - Joe Cole and Philippe Senderos - are yet to be allocated numbers.
Manager Paul Lambert should rubberstamp the squad list in the coming weeks.
Until then, the club stores at Villa Park and New Street aren't taking requests for shirt numbers because they are eager to avoid future disappointment if the current numbers of players change.
Make sure you snap up our classy new home shirt.
