World Cup 2014: Senderos - I'm more excited than ever
Philippe Senderos is relishing the 2014 World Cup more than the previous two - because he is in the best shape of his career.
Senderos will take part in his third consecutive finals tournament when Switzerland kick off their Group E campaign against Ecuador on Sunday.
And Villa's new signing believes he is in the best possible condition to help his side achieve their goal of qualifying for the knockout stages.
The Swiss just missed out on the second round four years ago despite upsetting eventual winners Spain in their opening match.
"I'm looking forward to this one more because I've come to an age where I feel good physically and I've learned a lot from the last couple of World Cups, so hopefully I can bring my qualities to the team," he said.
"These are really exciting times for me. It is my third World Cup and the third consecutive World Cup for Switzerland.
"Being such a small country it is a great achievement for us and hopefully we can do better than last time."
Senderos says it is imperative his team get off to a solid start against Ecuador in Brasilia to boost their chances of qualification.
The 29-year-old is putting to one side all thoughts of the mouth-watering clash against France five days later.
"Our first game is a very important one against Ecuador," said Senderos.
"Everyone is talking about the France game but we know we are going to be up for it against France.
"But Ecuador is going to be a tough test and hopefully we can set ourselves up to go through."
