Birmingham Mail: Aston Villa are on the brink of signing Swiss international Philippe Senderos on a Bosman transfer. The 29-year-old, who is part of the Switzerland squad at the World Cup, is undergoing a medical and should complete his move by the end of the week.

Birmingham Mail: Villa cast-off Marc Albrighton admits he was disappointed with the club's decision not to hand him a new contract but insists he has no bitterness towards Paul Lambert. Even though the 24-year-old finished last season as one of Villa's most in-form players, it was not enough to extend his long-standing relationship with the club he joined as a boy.

Express and Star: Former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos was today poised to join Villa. The 29-year-old is set to move on a free transfer following a medical, after leaving Valencia, before flying to Brazil for Switzerland's World Cup campaign.

Express and Star: Tony Cascarino today insisted Roy Keane's proposed move to Villa will be short-lived. The former claret and blues striker believes Keane is looking for a return to management.

Mirror: Philippe Senderos is reportedly set to undergo a medical at Aston Villa tomorrow. The Swiss defender is available on a free transfer from Valencia, despite only moving to the Mestalla from Fulham in January.

Daily Mail: Philippe Senderos will have a medical at Aston Villa on Thursday before flying off to the World Cup to join up with Switzerland. The defender spent second the second half of last season on loan at La Liga side Valencia after leaving Fulham.

Sky Sports: Norwich City manager Neil Adams has denied claims striker Gary Hooper has submitted a transfer request following their relegation from the Premier League. Hooper scored six Premier League goals for Norwich last season, and Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers have all been linked with the 26-year-old.

ClubCall: Ex-Villa and Ireland star Tony Cascarino thinks Roy Keane would use an assistant role at the club as a stepping stone to management. Keane has spoken to long-time friend and Villa boss Paul Lambert about joining his backroom team for next season after turning down the chance to take over at Celtic and also pulling out of his duties as a pundit for ITV at the upcoming World Cup.

BBC Sport: Aston Villa are set to sign ex-Arsenal and Fulham defender Philippe Senderos on a free transfer from Spanish side Valencia, reports BBC WM 95.6. The 29-year-old Swiss is due to undergo a medical at Villa's Bodymoor Heath training ground on Thursday morning.
