Delicious desserts served up as two club projects come together

Dessert was the order of the day as two of Villa's exciting community projects converged at Restaurant VMF.

A team of 14 and 15 year-olds from Q3 Academy in Great Barr got the chance to serve up some delicious desserts at our training restaurant.

The Year 10 students joined up with VMF chefs to make chocolate brownies and New York cheesecake as part of their involvement with another club project, Aston Villa Social Enterprise Academy.

Over the last 10 months, the Q3 pupils have been busy learning about business within the football club and were set the task of running their own Social Enterprise Business.

Their business model had to be non-profitable and have a positive impact in the local community.

With those factors in mind, the five-strong Q3 team formed Food Discovery.

Their idea was based on creating desserts to sell at Villa's critically-acclaimed restaurant, which is located in Directors within the Trinity Road Stand.

All profits from the desserts will go towards supporting Midland Heart, an established local charity aimed at helping homeless people.

The five youngsters involved in Food Discovery are Rowan Williams, aged 15, Aaron Pabla, 14, Jake Blockley, 15, Adam Bennett, 14, and Ruben Virdee, 15.
