Bent Mania hit Villa Park in January 2011 with the star striker moving to the club in a record-breaking deal.
It wasn't long before he was hitting more headlines, either, scoring on his debut against Manchester City.
It would prove to be the winning goal in an enthralling 1-0 victory at Villa Park.
Bent went on an inspired run of form after this beginning to his claret and blue career, including goals at the Emirates in a famous 2-0 win for Villa - and he also netted in games against Manchester United, Bolton and Everton to guide the club to a ninth place finish.
He completed the term as joint top scorer with nine goals in sixteen Barclays Premier League appearances, despite only joining in the New Year transfer window.
Even though he missed the last three months of the season due to injury, Bent still shone in the 2011-12 season.
Bent found the net in Villa's famous 3-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after some intricate play from Stephen Ireland provided the ace hitman with the golden opportunity.
Of course, Bent didn't squander the chance.
He once again found himself at the top of the club's scoring charts, finishing the season with ten in twenty five appearances.
Bent started his professional career at Ipswich Town in July 2001, after coming through the ranks as part of their youth system.
He made his first appearance for The Tractor Boys in November 2001 against Helsingborgs IF in the UEFA Cup.
Bent didn't have to wait long for his first goal either, coming in the same month against Newcastle United.
He would then go on to score 18, 16 and 20 goals in his following three seasons at Ipswich, respectively.
Bent signed for Charlton Athletic in June 2005. It didn't take long for the hotshot striker to make his mark on the club, with four goals in his first four appearances, making himself one of only six players to reach this achievement.
Bent received Charlton's player of the season award in the 2005-06 season.
Bent finished the 2006-07 term as Charlton's top scorer once again, with 13 goals.
After much speculation, Bent completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur for a club record fee in June 2007.
In his first season at Spurs, Bent scored eight goals and won the League Cup, beating holders Chelsea 2-1 in the final. Bent scored his first hat-trick for the club against Dinamo Zagreb the following season.
Always at the forefront of attacking activity, Bent finished the 2008-09 season, which would then go on to be his final at Spurs, as the club's top scorer with 17 goals.
Bent moved to Sunderland in August 2009 and was an instant fan-favourite.
Goals on his debut against Bolton, combined with hitting the net against Chelsea and bagging a brace against Hull City in a 4-1 win gave him four goals in his first five games.
Bent was the name on everyone's lips as he finished his first season on Wearside with 25 goals in 40 appearances.
After goals against Birmingham City, Arsenal and Manchester City in the opening months of the 2010-11 season, Bent completed his move to Villa in January to smash the club's record transfer fee.
