Robinson: Rousing reception helped settle debut nerves
Callum Robinson is striving for more action in Paul Lambert's side after receiving a rousing introduction to Barclays Premier League football.
Robinson earned a terrific reception from the claret and blue faithful when he came off the bench for his top-flight debut in the goalless draw against Southampton.
And the 19-year-old forward admits his first taste of the big time has left him craving more.
He was quick to thank the Villa supporters for helping settle his debut nerves.
"It was good to get on the pitch after being on the bench five or six times," said Robinson.
"The fans gave me a good reception when I came on and it meant a lot to me.
"Having being at the club since eight-years-old, it felt good. I want more of it now.
"It has given me more confidence. The gaffer gave me confidence when he had words in my ear just before I went on then when the fans reacted like that it was big for me.
"It helped me settle into the game. I was a little bit nervous but it helped me."
And he hopes his senior breakthrough can offer hope to his peers in the youth ranks.
"I'm really proud," said the England U19 international.
"When I came here as an eight-year-old I never thought I'd make it all the way through but there are a few other boys out there who have done it as well.
"Obviously I hope that the younger ones - even my team mates in the U21s - are looking up at me and thinking I can do that.
"At least there is something there to fight for and get your Premier League debut."
