Class of 1971-72 on hand to launch new book on Saturday
Many of the players who began Villa's climb back to the top flight will be paraded on the pitch before the game against Southampton on Saturday.
To supporters of a certain age, that era remains very special, and the fans will be able to show their appreciation of players like Bruce Rioch, Ray Graydon, Chris Nicholl, Geoff Vowden, Harry Gregory, John Dunn, Andy Lochhead, Jim Cumbes, Fred Turnbull, and Charlie Aitken, plus coach Ron Wylie.
The class of 71-72 will be here to launch Colin Abbott's new book Encounters Of The Third Kind and will be signing copies from 10.30am-12.30pm in the Villa Store at Villa Village.
Willie Anderson's son David is also coming along and will bring his dad's 1971 League cup final shirt and tracksuit top, while a number of players from other eras, including Jackie Sewell, Bobby Thomson, Mike Tindall and Jimmy Brown, are also attending the launch.
