Villa Ladies: Elegant midfielder Robinson snapped up
Villa Ladies have made another high-profile signing in Alicia Robinson ahead of their first season in the Women's Super League 2.
Following in the footsteps of Emily Owen, Tash Baptise and Lauren Walker, Villa Ladies have snapped up the elegant midfield star, subject to international clearance.
Robertson played for The New Saints in Wales before moving to the USA to play and study.
She went to Hutchinson Community College in Kansas for two years before transferring to Clayton State University in Georgia for another two years.
When Villa Ladies discovered she had returned from the States, they were quick to snap her up - confident as they were that her composure, passing range and goalscoring knack would suit the team well.
Assistant boss Natalie Courtney said: "Alicia is a player we've admired for a long time.
"Once we knew she'd come back, we had no hesitation is getting her in.
"Playing in America has given her some great experiences. She has matured as a player and will give us some more attacking options.
"We like the fact that she can retain the ball with her short and long passing game.
"She will link the team together and make us more creative in the final third."
Head coach Joe Hunt added: "We've had Alicia involved in the last three sessions and she has been brilliant.
"Straight away, she is linking well with our midfield players and producing some quality passes for our forwards.
"She is a graceful player and I'm sure the rest of the girls will enjoy having her in the team and our fans will enjoy watching her on a matchday.
"It's a big signing for us. We're delighted."
