Winter Olympics 2014: Presenter Warwood dreaming of Villa

Brown

BBC Winter Olympics presenter Tim Warwood has revealed his love of Villa as he continues to impress in the Sochi commentary box.

Warwood [pictured far left, above] started snowboarding at the age of 16 - and his drive and focus ensured he was UK champion at the age of 20.

He then made his way into the media world, impressing greatly as host of Disney XD show 'Goalmouth.'

Alongside best mate Adam Gendle, the football show allowed him to indulge his love of the beautiful game - and his love of Villa.

He said: "It was great. I used so much Villa stuff in sketches - retro kits, hats, scarves, mugs and even a bedspread on one episode.

"I wanted to keep that bedspread - but my wife was having none of it. Spoilsport!"

He then went on to work on events such as Channel 4's The Big Freeze, Red Bull Pro Nationals, Air & Style Munich & Innsbruck, Red Bull Flugtag, Red Bull X Fighters Dubai, Boardmasters and the British Ski & Snowboard Championships.

Now he's in Russia as part of the BBC's coverage of the Winter Olympics.

Warwood was in the commentary box - alongside pals Aimee Fuller and Ed Leigh - to give us a rundown as Jenny Jones earned Team GB's first-ever medal on snow.

She took home bronze in the showboarding slopestyle final - and Warwood was in tears at the terrific moment.

Now he's relishing the rest of the Winter Olympics coverage.

He took time out from his busy Sochi schedule to talk about his affection for the claret and blues in greater detail.

He tells us he is keeping warm thanks to a Villa-inspired claret and blue woolly hat, knit by his mother in law.

And he's keeping in touch with his claret and blue heroes via the internet.

He said: "It's great out here.

"The highlight so far has definitely been Jenny  winning bronze.

"It was amazing - really, really surreal.

"I have known Jenny for 17 years or so! We were team-mates when I used to be a pro snowboarder. She's a really good friend of mine.

"So when she won bronze it was a more like I was watching my friend win than anything else.

"I kind of forgot we were commentating - and to think that was a real piece of history too. I was real honoured.

"It was awesome for us - and hopefully Jenny's medal might have inspired some kids to go and give snowboarding a try!

"I may be out here in Russia but I still need my Villa fix regularly!

"I am constantly on the official Villa app, the official website and also the BBC Sport site too!

"My mother in law knitted me a claret and blue woolly hat for the Olympics also, to keep me warm.

"When I'm back I look forward to going to a game again.

"Villa Park is just one of those old, classic stadiums where you have the wow factor every time you go inside.

"My family are all season ticket holders in the Holte End. It's great whenever I'm back and we're up there cheering on the lads. You can't beat the banter in the Holte End!

"I love Christian Benteke. What a player! He's our hero. Everyone loves a goalscorer and he's our main man.

"We're in 12th at the moment. I think in the closing weeks we'll win some games and be just fine."
