Cardiff v Villa: Lambert - Albrighton is pushing for a start
Albrighton took the game by the scruff of the neck when he was introduced as a second half substitute in the Hammers clash.
He sent over several wicked balls and also hit the post with a fierce rising drive.
Lambert was thrilled with his dynamic display and will be considering more game time for the all-action star in these upcoming match, starting with the Bluebirds on Tuesday.
As well as hailing his effort and application, Lambert also praised the personality of Albrighton, calling him "low-maintenance."
Asked if Albrighton was pushing for a start, he said: "Oh yes. I thought he was excellent.
"He put some terrific balls into the box and he was unlucky not to score. When he puts balls into the box like that, there has to be someone on the end of them.
"The times he's been on in games for me, he's done well. He gave us a lift. He took the game by the scruff of the neck.
"He's been really unlucky with injuries. They have kept him out for a long spell.
"He had a problem with his throat and he had issues with his metatarsal twice.
"He's due some luck. He's only a young lad. When you have those sort of things go against you, you think 'when is this going to clear up?' Hopefully he now has a run where he can go again.
"He's just a quiet lad. I have only known him from the time I have been here. He's a good guy.
"He's no problem at all. His attitude is good. It always has been.
"He's very low maintenance. He's a good character. What you see is what you get.
"When he's in that kind of form, he's certainly a good player."
